VP - Private Banking (PWM) Compliance

Job Description

My client has extensive expertise in the Private Banking Sector, and is looking to recruit an experienced individual to further strengthen their compliance function.

Major responsibilities:

• Advise the Firm on banking and securities-related issues
• Advise the PWM Hong Kong Business Unit on all regulatory and Firm Compliance matters
• Work closely with PWM Hong Kong Management on new business proposals
• Develop, review and update policies, procedures and standards based on regulations and industry best practices; and monitor for compliance with these policies and procedures
• Maintain Compliance documentation including business unit manuals, Compliance Notices, rules databases, risk assessments and Compliance plans
• Conduct periodic desk reviews/audits of firm’s activities
• Ensure staff are properly registered and trained.
• Monitor for regulatory changes and communicate such to the relevant staff
• Coordinate internal, external and regulatory inspections and audits
• Deal with ad hoc regulatory inquiries
• Provide training to both professionals and support staff of the Business and Infrastructure Units
• Develop new and/or update current surveillance reports and systems with IT

Key Requirements:

• 8 - 10 years’ relevant working experience in the financial services industry in Compliance or related fields or with a banking regulator
• Banking regulation experience is a must
• Strong private banking compliance/regulatory background
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Strong analytical skills, thoughtful.
• Detail-oriented
• Fast learner
• Ability to act independently
• Good team work skills
• Other Asian language abilities are advantageous
