Commentary on HR Roles and Remuneration in Hong Kong for 2018

As companies continue to look for ways to reduce recruitment costs we are seeing an embedding of the trend to outsource the recruitment process, even among small companies. Talent acquisition and talent management are two distinct roles, with talent acquisition managers becoming managers of agencies with a clear remit to focus on the hiring process.

Those organisations that are expanding increasingly look to HR to serve as a business partner and organisational development team with a focus on efficiencies and change management. The role of HR as advisor to business leaders on how to expand the business and achieve work goals through people strategy makes this an increasingly dynamic role. They are also responsible for advising internal talent management on promotion programmes, career and succession planning, incentive tools design and bonus allocations.

We are also seeing a change in the trend of regional assignments, with a shift in focus to Greater China and a clear split of responsibilities. Hong Kong and China are increasingly being managed from Hong Kong while APAC is managed from Singapore or Shanghai.

HR professionals can expect 3-5% annual salary and 10-20% job moves increments.
