Office Support 2016 Salary Guide

Robert Sheffield 18.01.2016

There is an abundance of skilled office support professionals, but companies will pay a premium for someone with the right language skills.

For 2016, it is predicted to be a similar outlook to 2015, for Office Support professionals. There will continue to be a lack of permanent one-to-one support roles. Executive assistants and Personal Assistants often support one director 50%-60% of the time, as well as a small team. Salaries will remain stable, and salary increments will be 5%-7%. For an external move, professionals can expect a salary increase of 10%-15%. There is an abundance of skilled office support professionals, but companies will pay a premium for someone with the right language skills.

On the contract side, there is an abundance of Office Support positions, but a lack of professionals willing to take on these positions. Local professionals dominate business support contract roles. It is exceptionally rare to get visa approval for a foreigner at this level. Within Financial Services, the number of office support contract roles is hugely increasing. However, permanent hiring is still dominant, and the ratio of permanent to contract roles is 60:40. There are far less contract positions within commerce and industry. However, contracting is becoming more prevalent in this sector too. The growth of the contract market is due to a lack of headcount for permanent positions. The increase in contract positions is a global phenomenon; in the USA and Europe the ratio of contract to permanent roles is approximately 60:40.
